Qu’est ce que Chyavanprash ?

Definition – What does Chyavanprash mean?

Chyavanprash is a traditional Ayurvedic herbal jam, used to promote rejuvenation and improve the functioning of the immune system. Chyavanprash is particularly good for those with pitta dosha, since its tridoshic formula stimulates digestive fire (agni) without aggravating pitta. It is also useful in helping to balance kapha and vata.

The primary ingredient in Chyavanprash is Amalaki, a sour-tasting gooseberry like fruit which is high in antioxidants.

On explains Chyavanprash

Chyavanprash has been used as an Ayurvedic remedy for thousands of years. Due to its constituents of cane sugar, ghee and honey, it is suitable for daily consumption. These ingredients act as ‘carriers,’ allowing the Ayurvedic herbs to penetrate deep into the body’s tissues.

The benefits of Chyavanprash include:

  • Strengthening the body
  • Providing energy and vitality
  • Supporting proper functioning of the immune system
  • Promoting healthy respiratory system
  • Improving metabolism
  • Protecting the body against stress

Chyavanprash should be taken in small doses of one to two teaspoons, once or twice every day. Whilst it tastes delicious on its own, it may also be combined with warm milk or spread on toast.
